It has been a busy week. Both the Fishin Fannatic and the Fish Advisor have been bringing in the fish. Offshore has been catching tuna, mahi, wahoo and a few billfish. Nearshore has been catching ribbonfish, spanish mackeral and a few bluefish. Inshore has been catching speckled trout and drum (windy days are best for the drum). What a difference a day makes – yesterday nothing but cold, green water and today it was almost perfect. Abbey got to catch her first yellowfin!!! The past few days we have been offshore – Friday the tuna bite was definitely off, so we went in search of som mahi and managed to get some in the boat.
Saturday was much better for the yellowfin tuna. We only had a few guys out with us today and had our limit of yellowfin and were back at the dock by 12:30. We had 9 bites and 6 made it in the boat. We had a nice bigeye smoke us pretty good today.

In the past few days we have gone from our warm Spring weather to cold and windy. With the temps dipping, it pushed in the cooler water and made fishing offshore a bit tougher than it has been for the fleet. We did manage to have some nice yellowfin and blackfin tuna and a mahi (we got that bite too on the greenstick!). Starting next Tuesday, the weather and the seas look wonderful. It will be the perfect time to head offshore – warmer waters will definitely improve the fishing.
This weather has not hurt our inshore fleet. We have had great catches of red drum, speckled trout (1 of our captains reported catching over 50 trout yesterday) and catfish. While the offshore may be too rough to get out this weekend, the inshore guys can tuck in and miss the elements – and they have been having great catches this week.
